Los Angeles is a city of stars, and it's no surprise that it's one of the most popular destinations in the world. From iconic landmarks to unique attractions, there's something for everyone in this vibrant city. Whether you're looking for a fun day out or a relaxing getaway, here are some of the best things to do in Los Angeles. The Griffith Observatory is one of the most iconic spots in Los Angeles. With stunning views of the Hollywood sign and downtown Los Angeles, it's a great place to watch the sun go down and explore its free exhibits.
For a unique experience, consider hiking to the Hollywood sign via the Tree of Wisdom Path. The steep walk offers great views of Los Angeles and allows you to get as close to the sign as you're allowed. Olvera Street is one of the most historic districts in Los Angeles and a great place to explore. It has some nice restaurants and a fun central shopping area, but the main reason to come is for its Day of the Dead festival every October. The festival has been running for more than 30 years and is a celebration of life with murals, dancers, a procession and face painting. Echo Park is an up-and-coming spot with great restaurants, shopping, and a decent-sized lake right in the middle.
It's a fun place to hang out on a warm day, and you can get out on the water by renting a swan boat if you want to go for a walk. The area also has the Time Travel Mart, which is one of my favorite stores and excellent food, such as Masa's pizza and its fantastic bread pudding with croissant. Watching a Dodger game is another must-see attraction in Los Angeles. Just driving through the parking lot to the stadium offers iconic views of downtown Los Angeles, and the historic stadium has been there for nearly 60 years. If you come out of season, you can pay to take a tour of the stadium or visit the store and go out to see the upper deck. Start your two-day stay in Los Angeles stargazing at the TCL Chinese Theatre (originally Mann's Chinese Theatre) and stroll down the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Located just off Hollywood Boulevard, Runyon Canyon Park offers some stunning views of the city, as well as the opportunity to enjoy the California weather. Finally, head to Venice Beach or Santa Monica to enjoy the waves. When you want to see Los Angeles from above, consider taking an airplane tour. It's a bit of a tourist trap but interactive exhibits and Hollywood memorabilia are a fun way to spend an hour if you have free time in Hollywood. Far from the built-up areas of Los Angeles, Santa Monica Pier offers excellent water quality and bustling waves that attract surfers, even if it can get a little rough at times. Completely free to the public, Griffith Park is another great spot for an inexpensive day out among Los Angeles' exciting attractions. Located in the historic Rose Bowl Stadium, the Rose Bowl Flea Market is one of the best places to shop in Los Angeles for an eclectic mix of antiques, clothing, crafts and other random items. The Museum of Tolerance is another important museum to visit in Los Angeles that tackles weighty issues such as racism and prejudice around the world. One of those most unique things to do in Los Angeles is visiting Mosaic Tile House which is unlike any house you've ever seen before. The zoo closed in 1966 with the opening of the city's new zoo but its remains still live in Griffith Park. This is where you'll see Los Angeles entertainment at its best and watching a show here is always a fun experience. On its own, Santa Monica Pier has never been more than a fun little getaway from Los Angeles for a relaxing little adventure.
